The new store is jam-packed with brands including Old South Apparel, Struttin’ Cotton, Southern Fried Cotton, Fieldstone Outdoors, Indigo, AVID Sportswear and Heybo Outdoors. They also carry their own popular River’s Edge brand created six years ago by Foster and her husband, Stanley.
“We revamped the River’s Edge name,” Oliver said. “It’s been a crazy ride and we’ve been extremely blessed to be so successful.”
Randi Johnson lives in Windsor but works in Smithfield and said the new store offers apparel that wasn’t readily available in the town before. She said her husband, Aaron, loves to shop there because he can get quality dress or rugged shirts without having to travel to Hampton or Newport News.
“And they’re brands you can’t get at any other store,” Johnson said.
Even throughout the pandemic, the savvy businesswomen managed to continue to sell their merchandise at both stores thanks to Facebook Live videos showcasing outfits. Customers claim their online purchases from locked pickup bins outside the stores.
“We’re still doing it because it worked out really well for us,” Oliver said. “It got us through hard times.”
